Learn the difference between Google Analytics 4 (GA4) and Universal Analytics (UA) and how it will impact your reporting.
GA4 is the latest version of Google Analytics and will soon replace UA on July 1, 2023. On this date, UA will no longer process data, although historical data will be available for a period of time.
A Brief Comparison
GA4 now combines website and app metrics in one property, giving users a better picture of their customer's journey across multiple channels and devices. It also boosts better data privacy for users. Some major changes to be aware of are:
- New reporting interface
- New data measurement model (UA was driven by sessions and page views, GA4 is event-based)
- No bounce rate metric - this has been replaced with Engagement Rate
- New reporting metric
- No more goals - this has been replaced with Events and Conversions
- In-platform advanced analysis
Do I Need to Set Up GA4?
If you have a package with Repli, you do not need to set up GA4. The Repli team has been preparing for this transition for over a year and has already set up GA4 accounts for all customers.
How Does GA4 Impact My Reporting?
Your dashboards will continue to pull in UA data until Google stops processing data. Repli is also preparing a new GA4 dashboard that will be available in early 2023.
I Don't Understand GA4. Can You Help Me?
Absolutely! We understand this change to GA4 can be confusing and disrupting to your existing workflows. To help you prepare, our Training Team is preparing a learning series for our customers. In early 2023, your CSR will begin offering GA4 training sessions that can be tailored to your needs.
